Senior Awards Night FAQs
- How do I know if I am receiving an award or being recognized at Senior Awards Night? You will receive an invitation letter in the mail and an electronic invitation via your school email by May 21st.
- How are award recipients selected? In a variety of ways! Staff nominations, winning outside scholarships, or students can self-report if they’re received an award. The deadline to self report was May 13th.
- How does self-reporting work? Students fill out the Senior Awards Night survey by May 13th and let us know if they have won any special recognitions, awards, or scholarships.
- How many guests can I invite? 2 and they must be people from your immediate household.
- Do we have to wear masks? Yes. You and your guests.
- Where can we sit? Seating for guests is in the front parking lot. Bring chairs or blankets. It might be hot, so please bring sun protection.
- What COVID precautions will be implemented? Temperature checks, hand sanitizer, extra masks, and social distancing.
- Can I change my Shift? No. The order of awards has been carefully coordinated to keep everyone safe and to ensure we are in compliance with COVID 19 state mandated precautions.
- Can you tell me what I won? No. It is a surprise.
- How should I dress? Dressy casual.
- Can I give a speech? Thank my fans? No.
- Do I get a trophy? Depends on the award. Only some awards are accompanied by a trophy or medal, but all award recipients will receive a certificate and Senior Awards Night brochure.
- Can my guests bring balloons? No. Balloons, glitter, confetti, birdseeds, and food are prohibited. If guests show up with balloons, they will be asked to return them to their car.
- Is there a professional photographer? No, but parents are welcome to take their own photos.
- Where can my family park? Student parking lot.
- I was listed under Special Recognitions, Seal of Biliteracy, or CSF and wasn’t invited to Senior Awards Night. Why wasn’t I invited? Unfortunately, due to the capacity and time restrictions we have with the pandemic, we can’t recognize every senior who won something throughout their high school career. But we have included a Special Recognitions section in the brochure where we have listed senior accomplishments (self reported). Seal of Biliteracy recipients were recognized at two separate virtual ceremonies on May 5th and 20th. CSF and National Honors Society recipients are usually not awarded their cords and stoles at Senior Awards Night, although they are still listed in the program.
- Why do I have to leave immediately after the conclusion of the ceremony? To minimize mingling and the chance of spreading COVID 19, to make space for the incoming guests, and to get you out of the sun (it might be hot).
- What if I can’t make it to Senior Awards Night? What happens to my awards? You can pick up your awards at the school after Senior Awards Night.
- What if I arrive really early? You and your guests can wait in the car OR students can head over to student check in to line up while guests wait in the roped off waiting section close to the guest check in station.
